Include Some Kind of iOS 16 Support in the iOS App, and provide promises about future legacy support

The ask here is not for full iOS 16 support iOS 16 users all know they are on old devices and are losing access to a lot of apps, including this platform. Current and future legacy users would still benefit substantially from at least an ability to upload their photos, even if many other features are not available. iOS 16 is the current legacy version of iOS, buuuut it is a weird one: It continues to receive security updates, e.g. official support. All devices that supported iOS 17 (the current iOS requirement for the app at time of posting) also support iOS 18. There is virtually no reason to provide support for iOS 17 over iOS 18. Practically, this adds only one model, the iPhone 8 (and 8+), which is still in use by slow adopters and users with limited means. On the silicon level, the iphone 8 shares its cpu/chipset with the iphone X (A11 “Bionic”), which is currently supported by the app on iOS 18. (and so there are no concerns about performance here) The 8 was the year’s budget model of the same year as the iphone X, and continued to be popular as users were wary of the face recognition unlock. It was available for purchase well after the X was discontinued as the budget option. The 8+ was among the first generation of devices that had multiple cameras. It’s still a good / “good enough” camera. (if a developer wouldn’t mind just trying to compile with the os support version set to iOS 16 to see what happens, we could have a conversation.)

Configurable automated media resizing and convertor

Hello. I'd like to suggest either in context of Space Saver or (if you find it more reasonable) as a separate feature: picture size reduction (or upper limit, kinda size gate). The main task for this functionality would be unification of all pictures in format and size (e.g. all uploaded Fotos are changed to a configured resolution/size and/or converted to a configured format/container e.g. HEIC or JPEG). More complicated features would be: performing this action automatically upon upload or manually in batch and maybe something similar to videos (which brings more overhead comparing to pictures of course). The expected result would be the reduction of used storage (I know, you get paid for this, but it might attract more people) and avoid format and naming conflicts (in my case: after migrating all the photos and videos from iPhone and Google Photos I ended up with a colorful bouquet of formats, file names, extensions and sizes. Much of those sizes are clear overkill as most people don't show them at giant ads screens in New York and Tokyo, but rather post and watch only at smartphone-size screens). While the possible implementation might be relatively uncomplicated, given the variety of available software tools for dealing with photos, the result would save users significant amount of occupied storage and thus attract and help to stick with Zeitkapsl for longer.
