I am considering switching from ente.io to zeitkapsl because of the lack of this feature and the denial of its importance for the userbase.
It is the highest voted feature request in ente.io
Zeitkapsl would win a large userbase if this would come soon.

Will drop the MVP version of it today. It won’t allow for moving of directories, but you can already create folders and add albums to it as well as rename them. Also the UI will show you previews of what is inside a folder.
Coming in the following days:
drag and drop for moving
folder view im android and ios app, though you can already see all the nested albums already, but not with a nice hierarchical step down yet.

And now sub folder support is also integrated into the desktop and CLI apps. You can import arbitrarily nested existing collections.
